SOEP ZONDER SNOR

In the pleasantly deranged world of Broes, there is soup without a mustache, his mouth likes spinach but he does not, he sees himself sleeping and he wakes up in his dream.

“Soep zonder snor” (Soup without a mustache) is a cozy absurd music theater performance for children with a lot of imagination and a preference for fairy tales with a rough edge. Actor Stefaan Degand frames Broes’ inconsistent adventures with a frame story. Singer Denzil Delaere gives form to Broes with his virtuoso tenor voice. Youth choir Rondinella comments, drives the action, experiments with sounds, and, together with harp and percussion, explores a broader, wondrous sound world.

Diederik Glorieux was inspired by the pleasantly disturbed poetry collection “Als de bomen straks gaan rijden” (When the Trees Start to Drive, Publisher De Eenhoorn) by Frank Adam and created an equally mysterious-absurd musical universe. With the production “Soep zonder snor”, the province of West Flanders invites winners of the provincial prizes to an artistic dialogue.
